Courtyard Seat
Courtyard Seat was created to replace the original seat I was commissioned to make in 2002. To keep a sense of continuity between the two works I incorporated the woodcarvings from the original seat into the more robust new design.

The re-integrated carvings celebrate the local hop industry with a carved hop fruit and leaf and the traditional use of oak in the region, with acorn and leaf carvings.

Two ram's horns are also carved, celebrating the word Yobel (Hebrew for Rams Horn Trumpet), relating to the Latin "Jubilate", associated with "Jubilee", linking to the mosaic set on the wall of the courtyard celebrating the late Queen's golden jubilee.
