I was asked to create two seats for the newly created children’s cemetery at Pease Pottage, just outside Crawley, West Sussex. The need to be extremely sensitive to the setting was clear, and I chose as my theme the oak, to help create a sense of calm and stability - a place for quiet contemplation, The rounded organic forms of the seats incorporate an oak tree motif, with branches with oak leaves and acorns.
