The Kenneth Day Unit is a medium secure unit for young offenders. I was asked to create a series of seats and tables for the inner courtyard areas, and run arts workshops with the young offenders to create a further seat to be gifted to the staff of the unit. I designed and made four seats on the theme of the four seasons which are sited in separate courtyards within the secure unit. Coloured wood stain was used to bring more life and vigour to the seats.

Directly outside the main cafeteria in the main courtyard is an open seating /eating area defined by a 7.5 metre diameter semi circular wall. For this area I designed and made six curved interlocking seats and three curved tables. A wide variety of native herbs, including basil, marjoram and thyme are chip carved into the seat and table ends. Subtle colour has also been used to augment the carving.
