Unda vita
Set at one end of the dam, at the junction of three paths stands Unda vita . This sculpture is formed by two similarly curving elements rising up from the ground, back to back, supporting each other.
On one face is carved a selection of the various aquatic plants found in Tilgate Lake:
COMMON REED – YELLOW WATER LILY – WATER CROWFOOT - PURPLE LOOSESTRIFE – AMPHIBIOUS BISTORT
On the other face a food chain from the lake is depicted: PIKE - ROACH – DIAPTOMUS – DAPHNIA – DIATOM
Diaptomus
Daphnia
Yellow Water Lily
Purple Loosestrife
On the opposite side of the dam are carved oak cappings to three trash posts. The forms are abstractions of aquatic plant life from the lake.
