Unda vita

Set at one end of the dam, at the junction of three paths stands Unda vita . This sculpture is formed by two similarly curving elements rising up from the ground, back to back, supporting each other.

On one face is carved a selection of the various aquatic plants found in Tilgate Lake:

COMMON REED – YELLOW WATER LILY – WATER CROWFOOT - PURPLE LOOSESTRIFE – AMPHIBIOUS BISTORT

 

On the other face a food chain from the lake is depicted: PIKE - ROACH – DIAPTOMUS – DAPHNIA – DIATOM

Purple Loosestrife

On the opposite side of the dam are carved oak cappings to three trash posts. The forms are abstractions of aquatic plant life from the lake.
