Wiveliscombe
(2003)

Location : Jubilee Gardens, Wiveliscombe, Somerset

Materials : European Oak

Funding : Wiveliscombe Arts Consortium

The three seat designs are based on an intuitive response to the landscape in which Wiveliscombe sits. Each seat hosts carved images celebrating the more and less familiar flora specific to the surrounding area.

Devil's Bit

Devil's Bit has a rising, arched form. Carved forms inspired by Devil’s Bit Scabious, Wood Speedwell and Moschatel flowers are discreetly placed within the design.

Quaking & Creeping

The curved form of Quaking & Creeping is tailored to the line at the edge of the central lawn in Jubilee Gardens. The design is low, broad and sweeping, with stylised seed heads from Quaking Oat and Creeping Bent Grasses carved at either end.
